I'm not sure if I'm in the right section.  Our IT guy is outsourced and not
readily available so I am in desperate need of help.

Got a nasty infection and I need to get my computer in Safe Mode.  The last
time I was told to go to START and RUN and then run a program that would let
me get my computer in safemode with the networking feature still active to
run an online virus remover.  I cannot remember the program to run and right
now I cannot even access the IE feature at all.  Help?!?!

Assuming it is Win2k, XP or Win2k3, shutdown, restart, as the computer
starts booting tab F8 to get to the boot menu.

I wouldn't use an online scanner, download Trendmicro Sysclean utility, and
the latest pattern file and run it from the local hard drive.

You can download Stinger.exe from McAfee and run it locally.  Google
"Stinger download"

Pandasoftware has an excellent online virus scanner too
