Hi,
I am having a problem with nslookup. It gets timed out for only couple
of sites. But when we add out ISP's IP as the server and then do the
nslookup, it works fine. The DNS server has a forwarde also configured.
I got to know that the problem lies in our DNS server. How do I find
what problem is it and how do I solve it ? Any Clues.... ?

is your own DNS server forwarding to your ISP?

We have heard reports that when forwarding AND leaving
recursion enabled such timeouts occur.

Although it is difficult to logically understand how disabling
recursion (on the forwarding tab) would help those reports
have provided strong anecdotal evidence for this -- so he
might try it.

Another approach:  use NSlookup with varying explicit timeouts
to try each DNS involved -- watch out for caching effects at the
DNS servers -- and determine who is the "slow culprit".

Do you have a firewall in place? I'm thinking it's possibly an EDNS0 issue.

What is the forwarder you are using? Also, please give examples of what
domains gets timed out.
