Hi there,

I'm hoping someone here can help point me in the right direction on this:

I'm building a Virtual Server to use as the parent disk that a multitude of
differencing disks can be based off of.

Here are a few questions:

* Is it correct that I would run sysprep on the parent?

* In the Documenation it mentions:
"We recommend that you write-protect or lock the parent disk before
using the differencing disk"
How do you write-protect or lock a disk?

* Also, I've seen postings about Sysprep and Virtual Machine Additions.
What are the issues surrounding Virtual Machine Additions?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

_KBryan

It should be sufficient to get properties of the file and check the Read
Only attribute.

Instead of running sysprep on the parent, consider running sysinternal's
newsid at startup as an alternative.  Sysprepping an image takes a long
time, even if automating with a response script.

You should install the VM Additions in the parent disk to avoid doing
that step in each differencing application.
