Have an intermittent problem. SBS2000 server is where all clients documents
are stored. Approximately 9 workstations all running WinXP & OfficeXP or
Office 2003.
One user (apprently) has noticed that if she saves a document, sometime when
it is opened by another user, there is no content - the document is blank.
This primarily happens when the system slows considerably ie saving document
can take up to 3 minutes. When the system is ruunig well most documents are
saved in less than seconds...
Dell SCSI based servers with 2Gb RAM, separate O/S & data drives in RAID0 &
RIAD5 configuration. Dell Giga Switch, tier 2 workstations running XP Pro,
min 256Mb RAM, 80Bg 7200rpm hdd's & Gigabit NICs.

Make sure that the ipconfig/all on the clients show that everything is
pointing to the server-IP.
Check out www.smallbizserver.net, sbs 2000, workstations for some more
issues with XP.

Yes, Marina is right about DNS, DNS, DNS! I had slow saving issues with
Office2k and Microsoft sent me two patches that helped a little, better
performance., Hot Fix for Microsoft Knowledge Base article number Q825760
and Hot Fix for Microsoft Knowledge Base article number Q826722. Supposedly,
but I have not checked, these patches are in XP SP2. I have the RC2 but
have not tested. Also, allow Fast Saves should be off.
