I have just installed SBS2003 following the todo list etc… adding just one user account (Fred), manually starting pop3 services etc
I have 2 domain names assigned on the internet where email can be addressed to so I added the additional domains to the default Policy in the recipient Policies.

Domains
Fred @ mytoys.co.u
Fred @ mytoys.co

So far so good

I have configured my pop3 connector to download using a global mailbox type.
(All email from the 2 domains goes into one ISP mailbox

After a successful download … pop3 diverts the mail based on the to: cc: fields and as if by magic My user (Fred) can receive email for fred@mytoys.com directly into his mail box
However when receiving email for the .co.uk domain the mail goes into the Administrator mailbox

Have I missed a configuration setting some where along the line

Any assistance or pointers would be most welcome

as a side line
i saw another user has  a simmilar issue on another board... so you could be helping both of us... ;-
I have a 2003 Small Business Server installed.

The mails are collected via the POP3-connector for each user mailbox

I do, however have problems with some mailboxes. At the site I have two different domains. When mailing to the domain I first put up, say its called 1stdomain.com, the mails get through and delivered, and everything is just beautiful
But, if collecting mails going to the other domain, (2nddomain.com), the mails gets trapped, and in the mail tracker the last line says "Message Submitted to Categorizer
I have put up the 2nddomain.com in the recipients policy but I get the same result
If I am giving them an e-mailaddresses in the 1stdomain.com and If I am trying to put them to get into global mailbox, the mail goes to the right place, except the little problem that the info-addresses should be going to different users, and they get to the one that is having the addresss info@1stdomain.com

Hope you can help m

on deeper investigation i have found the following in the event log after using MAX loggin
and testing it by sending 2 emails one for fred@domain.com and one for fred@domain.co.u

in the event log for the .com domain i get an event like this... (this is ok

------- paste
The message <id: {xxxxxx-xxx-xxxxx-xxx-xxxxxxx}> was routed by
global mailbox mapping as follows

Original Recipient: <fred@domain.com>

- routed via domain substitution to <fred@DOMAIN.COM>
------- end paste

but when the second message is processed for the second domain .co.uk i get ...

------- paste
There is no delivery information for Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxe
to use in routing the message <id: {4C13X9A9-D42B-3455-A2A2-DF7C34CE7D1D}>
Either the message used a blind carbon copy (bcc) or a distribution lis
when it was delivered to the POP3 account at the ISP or the e-mail domai
specified for the global mailbox is incorrect. The message will be delivere
to the Exchange mailbox Administrator, as specified in the POP3 Connecto
Manager. For information about using routing rules to deliver e-mail from
distribution list or global mailboxes, see Help
------- end paste

vola...
the reason

im still investigating ... point me in the right direction?
am i getting warm if i look at information about using routing rules to deliver e-mail from
distribution list or global mailboxes

Where you forum boys and girls when I needed you? not one word.... hummmm ok so its a bank holiday
Annoying pop3 problem solved

I think It boils down to a configuration issue… as expected but it’s obvious isn’t it?
(Not for me at the time).  ;-

Scenario … mail from several domain names delivered to one ISP mailbox account
SBS 2003 POP3 Connector collects mail using global mail type connector and delivers to exchange users mail boxes

Issue: only mail addresses to the primary email domain specified on the pop3 connector manager properties for the pop3 mailbox are correctly delivered. All other email domains get an error 1072 and are redirected into the nominated account usually Administrator

Yes recipient policy had all the domains the server is auth for

With max debugging…..some messages return an error of
Error 1072 states
(error contents shown for clarity
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no delivery information for Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxe
to use in routing the message <id: {xxxxxxxx-xxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxx}>
Either the message used a blind carbon copy (bcc) or a distribution lis
when it was delivered to the POP3 account at the ISP or the e-mail domai
specified for the global mailbox is incorrect. The message will be delivere
to the Exchange mailbox Administrator, as specified in the POP3 Connecto
Manager. For information about using routing rules to deliver e-mail from
distribution list or global mailboxes, see Help.

So me thinks it seems my mail is loosing some of its header info on my ISP… Not the case…
If I change the global mail box email domain on the pop3 manager properties pop3 mailbox tab to one of the message domains that is failing and download new messages …that domain is received ok…. So the email has all its info intact
It seems to be the connector is not looking to accept mail from more than the one domain that is specified

However as a last resort I set a routing rule stating the users name only and directed it to the his mailbox

To my surprise it worked…. It now directs any email for that user name from ANY domain listed in my recipient policy to the mail box for that user

Can any one at MS throw some light on why the pop3 connector is not using the information in the To: and CC: lines in conjunction with the recipient policy to look up what Multiple domains to allow.
The address information is obviously in the To: or CC: line so why do I have to create a routing rule with just the user name?

Ill have to create one rule for every user (but hey it works)...

It works so I am not going to mess with it…

I hope this follow up info helps
