We have recently installed an SBS 2003 server on a client site repalcing a windows 2000 svr
The client has a lotus approach data base that has inbuilt links to approx 2000 lotus 123 spreadsheets, and all of these links are in the form of an absolute path i.e  //server/common......et
The new server has an entirely different name bassbs3k3 and therefore the approach databse will not work on the new server
Is there any way we could create an alias for the server so that the links would still work?

Assuming that the old server name is no longer in use, you could add a line
to the 'hosts' file on each client that uses the new server IP with the old
server name.
