when you re-installed...did you go through a new install and then just restore data?
Any chance that your server name now is different then it was from you first install??
ie original server1.mydomain.local
now sbsserver.mydomain.local
?? This would screw up the mx records on the dns server and mail would never get to you.
if you would like to share just your commercial domain name we can test and see whats going on

Hi There,
I currently have a problem with a SBS2000 server. we had
to reinstall SBS200o on the server due to corrupt hdds,
but ever since, we are not receiving any smtp e-mail. We
can send mail without any issues but not recieve mail.
People who send us mail get "mesage is delayed" messages
from their smtp servers.
Not sure what the problem is and any help is appriciated.
Also note that we found that the 3com support utility
(that comes with their server cards) interferes with the
active directory configuration when installing sbs2000,
make sure to switch off the utility before you install
else the active directory installation will fail!
If anyone can either tell me what could be the problem
with the mail or point me to some documents, it would be
greatly appriciated
Thanks

Hi There,
The Customer decided that they did not want their
exchange server recovered, so what we did was to
effectively build a new sbs server, and then restore the
customers data into their company folders, hence there
should not have been any issues with different server
names, what makes even less sense is that when i tried to
apply service pack 4 to the server, the install failed but
then the exchange started to receive mail???? Still not
sure why sp 4 keeps on failing, the files are copied but
then it fails on the registry changes, am too frightened
to reboot the server at the moment as it is remote from
me, any suggestions will be appriciated!
THanks
