Hello, I am getting the following error in my event viewer:

Source:         MSExchangeIS
Catagory:        Performance
Type:            Error
Event ID:        9582

Description:
The virtual memory necessary to run your Exchange  server is fragmented in
such a way that normal operation may begin to fail. It is highly recommended
that you restart all Exchange services to correct this issue.

This is on the only server (SBS2000) that I have running on my network of 20
computers (all XP Pro except for two Win 98 systems.).
I received this error last weeke and completely rebooted the server after
logging off all of the client systems.

The server is a Compaq ProLiant ML350 / 2.2Ghx / 3Gb RAM / 30Gb hard drive
with over 14 Gb free space.

I am starting to get complaints from users stating that they are showing a
delay accessing e-mail. Any ideas on what I should do? Thanks in advance.

Hi Aaron,

Have a look at this webcast 329864 and article 296073 XADM: monitoring for
Exchange 2000 memory fragmentation, 317411 XADM: how to gather data to
troubleshoot exchange virtual memory issues.
And maybe 328882 exchange memory use and the /3gb switch.

Marina

Thanks for the info. I am reading all of the MS articles that I can find.
Some are not making much sense to me though. Thanks.

I have read this article but am confused. The article says to use the /3G
switch ( I have 3 Gb RAM in server) then says to not use it on a Win 2000
Server based server. Then it gives directions to set the SystemPages
registry value on a WIndows 2000 Server-based computer ( I did htis). I do
not know if there is anything else in this article that would apply to my
situation. Any ideas? Thanks.

Don't use the /3G switch on an SBS - it's for win2k advanced server, not
regular win2k server.
