I have two SBS2k servers on two separate sites.
I need to get trust relationship set up between them.
I have a VPN link via two netscreen boxes and can map the drives to each
other quite happily; however, when I try to set up the trust relationship
between them it comes back and says that it cannot find the domain
specified.
Do I need to set up the opposite domains in the local DNS or something to
get this to work.
We will also need to get the SQL servers on both sites to talk to each other
and replicate data (hence the trust relationship), will I need to do
anything else to get this to work??
TIA

Hi Terry -
You cannot create a trust with SBS - it is a known limitation with the
product. However, you should be able to access resources using pass-through
authentication. As for SQL, I'm sure Steve will correct me if I'm wrong,
but I don't think you need a trust in order to replicate SQL . . . but I'm
not 100% sure on that . . .

Trusts cannot be established using SBS.... thats one of its limitations. You
need to go to the full product to acomplish this (Migration Pack) or
reconsider what you want to do.

Any idea how I get the SQL servers to replicate then?? The servers have
different domain names and are on different IP addresses (not on the same
subnet).

As far as I remember you cannot create a trust
relationship using sbs. It is a restriction of the
software, but double check with Microsoft.

Correct, SBS does not support the creation of trust to another domain.. For
more information, see the link below..

Hope that helps,
