Oddly enough, the server runs and provides services to clients, but if I try
to logon to the console locally or remotely, it blue screens and reboots.
I've tried starting in safe mode, with no success.  Has anyone got any ideas?

I see you have already posted in the SBS 2003 group, and received a reply or
two.  Please stay there unless you really are discussing SBS 2000.

I am discussing SBS 2000, but after reading other postings here I thought
this forum may be defunct and all SBS postings should be on the newer forum.
The responses I got on the newer forum were geared more toward SBS 2003 and
have not been entirely applicable, although they have given me more to
investigate.  Any additional help you could provide specific to SBS 2000
would be greatly appreciated.

BOY, am I in trouble ;-?
(for suggesting MS destroy the groups?)

BSOD on logon I've seen as a consistent event on SBS2000 due to the 'Post
SP4 Update' but this was fixed by V2 (actually, I think V3 of V2) of the
update and AFAIK the earlier versions are no longer available so it is
unlikely this has recently been applied unless you have files you downloaded
_more than some time ago_.

Another reason would be viri.

Neither are _necessarily_ the cause though.

I'm not sure of the version of SP4 installed, but it has been many months or
possibly a year since SP4 was applied, so that is likely not the problem.

As for the possibility of viral infection, that had crossed my mind.  I can
see where a hacker that has taken control of my server might to keep it
operational, but keep the console locked up.
