How do we manually stop Exchange 2000 (running on SBS2000) services so
that no more email is brought in through the POP connector?

Thanks

Hi:

You can just stop the pop3 service in the services, but I wonder if you mean
to stop all exchange services?

My goal is to stop mail from coming into the Exchange Server while I
do some PST exports on mailboxes (some are large). Email that does not
come into the Server will be forwarded during this time exporting
period. The Exchange Server is being retired after the exports, but
needs to be running for some other data transfers. The PSTs are going
to be imported into new SBS2003.

That helps.  Disable the pop3 service, or pull the plug on the internet.

BTW, many in the Outlook group would discourage you from exporting, although
sometimes this is the easiest.  But the preferred method is to open a new
personal folder set and copy the exchange set into the personal one.

Have you looked at www.sbsmigration.com to facilitate your new server?  And
did you get Software Assurance, as SBS 2008 will be released in November and
it will be more expensive up to about 12 users, and in any case will be less
than half price with SA?
