We have SBS 2000. I am looking in the default SMTP Virtual server and
notice a bunch of "messages" in the Queue area. There are 3 different
kinds of icons listed. Could someone tell me what they mean?

1. Folder with a green circle and a white check mark within the
circle.
2. Folder with a white circle and a blue arrow which is pointing in a
counter clockwise possition.
3. A plain open folder. Looks like the other folders, but it appears
to be open.

Thank you for any help.

the various icons simply indicate the state of each queue. The fact that you
have them seem to indicate email is not flowing properly. So we have to
start with how your Exchange is configured to send out email -- generally
you either select 'Use DNS' or 'Use Smarthost'. In some cases, depending on
your ISP, you may need to have two SMTP connectors defined.

Thanks for your response Kevin. I do not beleive we are using a
Smarthost. We are using DNS. I am glad you mentioned the fact that
there shouldnt be anything in this queue. WHen I first took over the
server I noticed that there were many messages in the queue and
thought it was odd. Most of the entries are set on RETRY and I assume
this is the reason why exchange is performing below par. Any other
thoughts on why this is happening?

Thanks agian for your time.

Oh, and as far as I can tell there is just 1 connector configured.

Yes, by default there is only one ... but how is it configured? Go to
properties for the connector and the first screne will tell you.
