Hi JD:

Don't have a Windows Server 2000 here to test, but on Windows XP and Windows
2000 Pro, the control panel icons are *.cpl, stored in \windows\system32
with a backup copy in \windows\system32\dllcache.

(Note that the Windows folder on some systems is WINNT.)

The one for power options is called powercfg.cpl.

There are some MS documents on how to either remove or hide these applets,
for example:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/261241

and others which you can find by searching with your favorite tool.

Are you accessing the server from a Terminal Server session?

Thank you all for replying.
Yup... accessing the terminal server (application mode) via the terminal
services client.
