Hi Keith,
What SP level are you at for Exchange 2000 (SP3?) and for SBS 2000 (SP1a?;
Win2K Sp4?). Is the server fully patched (security updates).
The SMTP service on your Exchange 2000 Server computer may stop responding

The Inetinfo.exe Process Stops Responding

Any third party apps on the server? (GFI Mail Essentials, etc.)
Maybe something in a generic Google search for "Timeout (30000 milliseconds)
waiting for a transaction response from the IISADMIN service"...

And if you have a U.S. retail copy of SBS 2000, you may still have the 2
free support calls to Microsoft Product Support Services (aka, Microsoft
Customer Support Services). Not sure on this as I believe SBS 2000 has
reached it end of life as far as mainstream support is concerned. But it
may be worth a try.

Hi Merv
Thanks for getting back to me, I was beginning to think no one wanted to
talk to me (ha).
SP for Exchange is SP3 SBS2000 at SP4. All patches are applied. The server
is running Symantec Corporate AV, HP Jet Admin, HP Storage Works,
Maildisclaimer and Arcserve Backup.
It looks like I have had some worm activity due to multiple email reports
from some of our contacts. I think I have now cleared this with Symantec,
Spybot and Stinger. All desktops and the server now report clear. I still
have the services problem with IIS continuing to restart and populating the
System Log with termination errors. How can I fix the services?

Have you cleared all items from these Exchange mail-root directories?
Badmail
Pickup
Queue

There is only a small amount in Badmail, I run a schedule task overnight to
clearit. and Queue only has the few latest ones picked up from the ISP, we
collect by POP3 every 15 mins. Would you suggest I stop it?

Hi Merv
Installed the Exchange Rollup for SP3, but it hasn't helped. After reboot
the services still give same error message. Would you recommend a re-install
of the IIS services?
