ok guys,
your expert advice is being sought after

replacing an existing sbs 4.5 server with a Dell Power 2300 with SBS 2003
set-up ran fine, 2 internal NICs, addresses as follows

(1)    10.0.0.2
       255.255.255.0
       NO gateway
   dhcp IS enabled and working

(2)     192.168.1.25
       255.255.255.0
       192.168.1.254
   NO dhcp

router is a cayman adsl with address of 192.168.1.254

I can access the internet and receive e-mail no problem from the server but
cannot browse the internet from client computers
Looking forward to your responses

Go to this page first, then look for the page on how to set up connection to
the internet through your router.  It's there somewhere.

Please, don't multipost.
The proper newsgroup for SBS 2003 is microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs.

Did you ever get this problem figured out?  I've got the same proble
and cannot find the resolution.

Any help would be appreciated.

My Broadband connection is up and connected directly to a NIC - th
server can access the internet.  Client's cannot access the internet
however.  They CAN send and receive email.  For some reason, the serve
is blocking internet access to the client (I believe).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Regards,
Jeez

Hi Jeez,

Standard or Premium? Does the ipconfig/all on the clients show that
everything is pointing to the server IP?

I broke down and decided to call Microsoft @ $245.00....UGH...
Spent 6 hours on the phone with them.

The INET NIC was set to 192.168.1.64
The LAN NIC was set to 192.168.0.4

Microsoft changed the LAN NIC to 10.0.0.4

Internet worked....but the Intranet didn't.

The Microsoft rep changed some DNS settings, we rebooted.  Machin
hangs on reboot now and won't start...UGH!!!

It's hanging on Exchange startup, probably need to readdress th
Exchange server address would be my guess.

Microsoft is supposed to call me tomorrow @ 9am to continue the saga.

I think if SBS 2003 had included ISA and the proxy server, I wouldn'
be having these problems....

Right know, I'm wishing I knew Linux!

Thanks for your reply, if you have ANY ideas, please let me know

So, why is it, again, that you didn't go for SBS2003 Premium
Technologies?  And for the record, how much more would that have cost
you?

It would have cost an extra $600.  I didn't get it because I have n
need for SQL.

But on the bright side, all is well @ the home front today....Th
machine is up and running correctly, the AD is fixed, and the clien
machines boot extremely fast, like they should.  Remote connectivity i
sweet as well.

Only issue I have is VPN connectivity across Broadband isn't workin
right now.

Definitely worth the $245 to fix.  We were on the phone some 10 hours.
I hadn't set up anything wrong, the wizards set up the IP addressing.
Apparently this is an issue which can jump up and grab anyon
installing this product, who buys the Standard edition.

The problem has allowed me to find this forum, which I KNOW will b
helpful in the future.  Glad to be here

If you think this forum is good, you should investigate
public.Windows.server.sbs, which is the appropriate newsgroup for
SBS2003.
