I am replacing a Windows 2003 domain server and a separate 2003 Exchange
server also running on Windows 2003.  There is a ton of problems with Active
Directory becuase of past configurations and lack of maintenance before we
aquired this account.

We are installing a new 2003 server & Exchange box running 2003 to replace
this hardware and software mess.  We are going to create a fresh new domain
name to eliminate all the old problems and start fresh.  I have about 50
users, several have in excess of 4Gb mailboxes.

What is the best method including 3rd party tools to back up the individual
mailboxes and restore them to the new Exchange server's users?

Quest Recovery Manager for Exchange, or PowerControl from Ontrack. You can't
use exmerge as the mailboxes are over 2GB.

Or you could use Outlook to export the mailboxes to local PST files. Tedious
with 50 users, but if you have enough techs & time, it may be cheaper.
