Exchange 2007 transition from Exchange 2000

Hello,

We will have a long running transition from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2007.

An issue we can't seem to fix is the issue that we need Mailbox users on
Exchange 2000 to enter /exchange in the OWA url and 2007 mailbox users enter
/owa in the url.

The docs seem to indicate that a mailbox user on 2007 will be redirect to
/owa if he enters /exhange but we do not see this happen. We get into a
basic authentication screen and then it fails. Some experts at the ATE boot
in Barcelona also said it would work and it was probably a Beta bug but now
with the RTM edition we still have the same issue. What could I be doing
wrong or am I missing?

For our end users this is a concern. Any advice?

Thx a lot

Hi,

Why not make /exchange and /owa the default sites?
(I assume that the OWA dir can be made the default site for the 2007
server):

Hi,

You are right, you can only make one the default dir, but you have 2 servers
don't you, or are you using the 2007 server as the front-end server?

I see where you are going with this ... I think: you are suggesting that
until all mailservers/mailboxes are migrated we keep the FE for the users on
Exchange 2000 an only use the CAS server for Exchange 2007 users. That means
still two different urls all be it on 2 diffenrent servers.

But it is an option, tell only migrated users to use the new "2007" url ...
perhapas a better idea indeed. I was perhaps focusing to much on the CAS
role replacing the FE role ...
