URGENT !! Question about IMF ( Intelligent Message Filter )

I have a question on IMF

When I directly install the Exchagne 2003 SP2 , IMF autiomatically has been
checked.
the " Out of Office " message cannot be sent to External User. ( no problem
for Internal user )

After I uncheck the IMF , the " Out of Office " message can successfully
sent out.

But the situation is when I upgrade the SP2 from SP1, it doesn't have any
problem.

Please tell me why ? Because of SP2's IMF v2 ? or what ?
Any KB mention about that ?

Thanks

Edward

Interesting observation - but it has nothing to do with IMF. By default IMF
scans mail from unauthenticated senders - outbound mail isn't scanned (it's
not from unauthenticated senders).

To check whether OOFs can be sent to the Internet or not, check Global
Settings | Internet Message Formats | Defaul (where domain = *) |
properties. | Advanced -> "Allout out of office responses".

As a sidenote, it's not a good idea to send OOFs to internet senders by
default (you're also confirming your address to spammers, et al), but
business requirements often override that consideration. You can create
separate Message Format settings for domains of important customers/vendors
et al and allow OOFs selectively for those domains.

Is there a CheckAuthSessions DWORD value set to 1 under the following
registry key?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\ContentFilter

Do users get any NDR or are you getting any error in the application log. You
can also set up performance counters for IMF and check if IMF is really
touching those OOF messages.

If you dont get any NDR then are the OOF messages get stuck in any of the
queues.
