My company is acquiring another firm of about 30 users.  We are on Windows
Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 in native mode.  The firm we are acquiring is
on an NT 4.0 domain with Exchange 5.5.  We are planning to install a 2003
Active Directory Domain Controller from our domain at their location as well
as an Exchange 2003 server that will be part of our Exchange Site.  We will
be setting up new accounts for their users in our Active Directory domain.

I need to be able to get the mailboxes and public folders from the
NT4/Exch5.5 domain into our 2003 domain.  I know that ExMerge is a
possibility, but I'm not crazy about that method.  Is there another way to
essentially migrate their Exchange data from the old domain into our domain?

Hi,

You can also use the exchange migration wizard:

If you are creating new mailboxes for them, and there are only 30
users, Exmerge is going to be the quickest and cleanest way to get the
mail across. They wont be able to reply to old messages anyway, so I
wouldn't even import the old mail in to the new mailboxes. Just make
the .pst available if they need access to the "legacy" mail. For the
public folders you can just copy them to a .pst and then re-create
them (if needed) or dump them in a holding public folder in the new
ORG that people can access if they need the data.
