For the betterment of me, as well as for prep for the The Environmental
Dependencies Course (EDC) I plan to take early next year I am going to
convert my sendmail infrastructure over to Exchange 2003/2007.  I already
have a Postfix Mail Gateway which I plan to keep.  My domain is a
"domain.local" Windows 2003 R2 native AD Domain with Windows
2003R2/XPSP2/VistaRC2 clients.  I have two external .com domains which send
and receive mail which I plan to move over to Exchange 2003 Enterprise
Edition.

My hardware is x86-64, since Exchange 2007 migration will only be possible
on a 64 bit machine.  I am using the latest Intel Core Two duo Extreme 2.4
GHz with 400 GB SATA RAID1 configuration and 2 GB DDR2-1066MHz RAM.  Will 2
GB be OK for the near term, even as I upgrade to Exchange 2007?

Hi Edward,

How long is a piece of string?

You do not mention how many users you plan to have on your servers. What
Exchange 2007 roles are you planning to deploy? What sort of Outlook user
trends do you have? (Light/Medium/Power User)

There are tons of factor to take into account.

This info is pretty useful for Exchange 2007:

Sorry, 50 users.  I plan to deploy all functions for a back-end server.
This will be the only Exchange Server 2003/7 in the forest for the time
being.

2GB for 50 users on an Exchange 2003 server should be fine.
It probably will be ok for Exchange 2007 too.
