We have about 500 users and 400 GB mailboxes size.  Now, we are migrating to
Exch2K3 server.  Backend server I plan to use:
1) two dual-core processors
2) 4GB RAM

BTW, is the dual-core processor that outperform two single-core processors?
Can anyone clarify this?

A single dual core will not out perform two seperate single cores.

It depends on the processor.  AMD reports more of a performance increase than
Intel.  For Example, with Exchange if seen reports that you can get a 25%
increase in processing power from dual-core processors (as compared to single
cores running at the same speed).  To answer you question though, yes dual
cores provide more processing power than single-core processors.
