We have a single Exchange 5.5 server we are in the process of moving to
Exchange 2003.  While running the OrgNameCheck tool we found that our
Organization name/directory name contained invalid characters.  Therein lies
the problem.  I've researched technet and found in KB822588 that Microsoft
does not support installing in this Organization due to problems with
Exchange 2003 services.  What would be the next step?  Would upgrading to
Exchange 2000 work?  If so can we get a copy of Exchange 2000 cheaply simply
for this purpose?  Or should we build a new Organization for Exchange 5.5 and
go through the turmoil of moving mailboxes etc.?  Or should we go ahead and
try the Migration to Exchange 2003 and ignore the issue of an invalid
Organization name?  All 150 users have Outlook 2003.  We also have various
distibution lists and a 14G public folder for archived jobs.

Right click on the 5.5 org in the Exchange Administrator and go to
properties. Change the display name so that it doesn't have any conflicts
with Exchange 2003.
