Question:
Exchange 2003
Clustered Enviroment 2 Clusters
Single Site
Singe Administrative Group
Is a designated Bridgehead server still necessary?
or will the front-end server designation  meet the required needs??
I am assuming acting as an SMTP Gateway
or if it is still needed
can i have my front-end server be the designated Bridgehead??

Just a term.  :)

The FE server will absolutely work if you want it to.  FE servers are most
often associated with OWA, but they also handle other protocols such as
SMTP, POP, and IMAP in the same manner.  In your case, you don't need a
bridgehead if you have only one routing group.
