is it possible to move an exchange server from say domain A to domain B in
the same forest and are there any requirements on what version of exchange
is required to do this (ie do all exchange servers ned to be running exch
2003).

Last I checked, no you cannot do this easily nor natively.   It would be
highly recommended to move the user data to a server running in the target
domain vs. moving the server itself.
