Anyone Using IronMail Out There?

We are getting ready to implement Exchange 2003 and I am considering
switching our current SPAM filtering software (NetIQ's MailMarshal) for the
IronMail appliance.  I am wondering if anyone is currently using the
IronMail appliance or has any other product that is good at reducing the
SPAM.

Thanks,
Fred

Not recommended unless you have plenty of time to spend administering it.
From a standpoint of Content Filters and Policy filters it's very robust.
From an MTA, SPAM filtering, overall mail transfer device, you're better off
with the Iron Port device. The Support team for Iron Port is also far better
and responsive than CipherTrust's. From a performance and scalability
standpoint, a single Iron Port C-series device will out perform 3-4
CipherTrust devices, per our own testing, prior CT customer conversations,
etc.

Good luck.

I would have to agree with Gene.

The Ironport support is great and they are very easy to understand even for
some of us that are on our first or second project using an IronPort device.
They are also very open to hopping on a conference bridge with several
folks.

I am wondering if they will move from Sophos and Brighmail to a
Symantec-based AV since Brighmail was purchased by Symantec.

Just as a note Exchange 2003 has this functionality already you dont need a
third party product.

The following article describes how to prevent exchange 2003 server from
accepting undeliverable email and therefore would reduce the amount of items
in your badmail folder.

That's funny! Exchange has very weak abilites when it comes to dealing
with spam, unwanted connections, or customization (in this case weak =
none).

The use of the AD/LDAP to refuse mail for unknown addresses is nice,
but how long did it take for MS to put that into the product?

Yea, I use Symantec Mail Security 4.5 on all of our Exchange Servers.

Yes. We use four of their appliances.
