There are three departments, A, B, and C, that are part of the NT 4 domain
called General. The PDC for the domain is located in Department A, while
Department B and C each have a BDC. Also, there is an exchange server in
each department, which are all part of the same site. Department A would
like to migrate to a Windows 2003 server into their own Active Directory
domain seperate from the General domain. They would also like to migrate
their exchange server to an Exchange 2003 server.
Can anyone point to some documentation or make any suggestions on different
ways of migrating Department to their own domain with little obstruction to
Department B and C? All the users, computers, and mailboxes for Department
A will need to be migrated to the new Active Directory domain.
Thanks,
Mario Lopez

Hi,
I would recommend having a look at www.microsoft.com/windows and
www.microsoft.com/exchange.
If you can keep the domains in same forest it will be easier to administer
the environment. You may have to start off deciding on your active directory
structure (AD) first. Windows 2003 relies on AD. You will need to know if all
the exchange servers still need to talk with each other and share the same
address book this will have big affect on your design.
Also have a read on topics such as Exchange 5.5 to 2003 migration.
