If we have 2 Exchange 2007 forest with similar root name e.g. at site A we
have forest1.com and after company merger, site B is also have forest1.com,
can I setup trust between these 2 forests to route email from site A to site
B, and vice-versa, as well as to sync the GAL?
Also, if this is possible, does the 2 sites (located at different country)
needs to be connected together via MPLS or VPN or similar setup? Or, can it
be done via normal internet line?

The NetBIOS name of the domains have to be different for a trust to
work. You can sync gals using MIIS/IIFP/ILM (without trust). There are
some limitations with using pre-ILM FP1 which you can find at the
following URL:

You can route mail by creating a second connector to a hub transport in
another site. Because it's in a different exchange org, you'd have to
make some changes such as setting your domain from authoritative to
internal relay and making sure that send connector for that domain is
pointing to the other Hub transport or edge. Read the following URL for
more information:

As for connectivity, if 1 server can talk to another, you're fine. As
for securing that connection, that's up to you.
