We are looking at the possibility of merging our exchange org with a parent
company and clients accessing over WAN links using RPC over HTTP.

Currently client access the exchange servers direclty using outlook in the
standard way.

I need to get a feel for how much traffic passes between the outlook clients
and the exchange server so i can make a decision on WAN links and that sort
of thing.

It may in fact be better to have local exchange servers.

Does anyone know of a monitoring tool i could install on my exchange servers
to analyze the amount of outlook related traffic?  Currently the exchange
servers on run exchange and no other apps.

Thanks in advance.

You didn't state what version of Exchange you're running.  Perhaps this
document might help you plan:

Thanks for your reply. I'm running Exchange 2003. Your document seems to deal
with hypothetical situations - I need to analise what is actually happening
at the moment in a current environment. I know these particular users deal
with a lot of emails with large attachments. I've played with EXmon qiuckly
but i need cummunative stats over the course of say 1 week so can get a good
average. Exmon seemed to reset itself alot (stats only dealt with single
sessions). Perhaps I misread it.

Perhaps there is a third party product that can help if not a microsoft one.
Would be interested to hear from anyone.

Thanks
