I'm setting up a new SCC cluster and have a few questions about what the end
config will look like.  I see two cluster resource groups: the windows
cluster group and the exchange virtual server cluster group.

The windows cluster group will have the cluster IP addy, name, and quorum
physical disk resources.

The Exchange virtual server cluster group will have all my physical disk
resources (database and log drives) and a resource for each storage group
once Exchange is installed.  I'm using mount points since I will have 35
storage groups.  So, in the end I'll have 35 physical disk resources for my
log drives, 35 physical disk resources for my database drives, and 35 other
resources for my Exchange storage groups.  I think this is correct, but seems
like an awful lot of cluster resources.  Can someone kindly confirm this for
me?  TIA

You are correct.

And I should get all of my physical disk resources set up BEFORE I install
Exchange?

You need at least one disk resource configured before installing Exchange
because Exchange needs it to create the default SG and DB.  That said,
you'll find it easier if you have all of your disks ready before Exchange is
installed.

Once Exchange is installed and you have created your SGs and DBs, it is very
important to also go into the cluster management tools and configure
dependencies so that each SG/DB cluster resource depends on the correct
physical disk resources.  This steps is critical, yet often overlooked.  If
you don't do it, though, failover will not work properly.

Hope this helps.

Yes, that would be best.  This way you can test that all the mount points
are setup correctly and verify successfull fail-over to the other node.

When setting up my cluster I also setup a drive for the shared message
tracking logs.  Otherwise, I do believe they will remain local to each node
unless configured otherwise.  Also, if installing ForeFront, you'll want a
drive dedicated for sharing the configuration between the nodes.  When
installing ForeFront in a cluster, it will ask for a shared drive to store
the configuration.  It's been over a year since I built our cluster, so I'm
telling you this from memory.  If you want more details, please contact me
directly.

That sounds about right.  I think you forgot to add one LUN for the
dedicated restore LUN though.
