I have a Mac Mini running Mac OS X v.10.5.4, with Entourage 2008 v.
12.1.1 on it. I need to access my own Exchange 2007 SP1 mailbox. I'm
not interested in other people's calendars, not interested in
synchronization with iCal.
My Exchange account in Entourage is set up as follows:
Name: My name
E-mail address: mylastname@mycompany.net
Authentication: Use my account information
Account ID: mylastname
Domain: MYNETBIOSDOMAIN
Exchange server: servername.mycompany.local (single server running all
the roles)
This DAV service requires SSL: checked
Public folder server: servername.mycompany.local/public
LDAP server: servername.mycompany.local
This server requires me to log on: checked
In my mailbox I have dozens of e-mail folders, calendar full of
entries, and a bunch of contacts. I have verified all that with
Outlook and Outlook Web Access.
In Entourage, I have Contacts with people in it and all those e-mail
folders visible, containing all those messages, except one single
folder - it's empty. On the "server" side, it contains something like
70 messages.
Also, the Calendar is empty - not showing any events in Entourage. The
Outlook version contains between one and three events for each day.
So I have this weird problem - everything seems to be hunky-dory,
except for one single e-mail folder and a Calendar (I'm *not* talking
about "On My computer" calendar).
Outlook and Entourage are *not* running at the same time. I deleted
and recreated the Exchange account in Entourage. Emptied the cache and
told it to "Synchronize now" multiple times. Tried to sniff the
traffic with tcpflow, but everything is encrypted (SSL). Tried to
figure out, how the messages in that one folder might be different
from messages in other folders - nothing special about them (date
range, senders, recipients). The Entourage shows in the Status line
this flowing blue stripe saying "Updating Calendar", then moves on to
updating other folders, but still nothing shows up in the Calendar.
Calendar's folder properties, Storage: shows the size of 446K, which
is about correct. That one e-mail folder's Properties, Storage -
6587K, and still Entourage says "There are no messages in this
folder".
I'm pretty much out of ideas myself, and would appreciate suggestions
- thanks in advance.

I recommend posting Entourage questsions to to
microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage. I've crossposted there.

Just for giggles, try creating a new folder in Outlook and moving
all those messages over to there. See if *that* one shows up in Enoturage.
Also you may want to try creating a new Entourage identity and see what
shows up there.

Also see if the Identity fixes this.

Thanks, Adam
I created a new folder in Outlook, and moved all the messages from the
problematic folder into the new one. In Entourage the new folder
showed up, but just as empty.
Next, I created a new identity in Entourage. To my surprise, the
Settings Verification after the wizard were successful (it usually
requires me to tweak it manually, but not this time). Unfortunately,
it's behaving exactly like the first identity.

My next suspicion is that there is a corrupted message that is somehow
preventing the folder from loading. Try the same thing, but add just a few
messages at a time. Start with 1, then 5, then 10, then keep adding 10 until
you get all 70.

Let's name this old problematic folder "Old", and the newly created
one - "New". Using Outlook I moved one message from Old to New, and
checked with Entourage - it showed up in this New folder, So I went
ahead and moved 5, then batches of 10 (it turned out to be 152
messages total). I was checking between each batch in Entourage, and
it was showing those messages apear in the New folder. At about half
of that operation, I also looked in the Old folder in Entourage, and
there were messages there! Finally I moved all of them to New, and
sure enough, all were nicely reflected in Entourage. Then I moved all
152 of them all together back from New to Old, and bam - in Entourage
both folders are empty again.
This "Old" folder is the largest of all (6592KB), the next smaller is
4691KB, but this smaler one has been replicated without problems. I'm
not counting "Deleted Items", which is even larger and messages in it
also don't show up in Entourage, but I thought they were not supposed
to be replicated...
Calendar: originally it had 446KB. I deleted most of the events so it
has 46KB, and suddenly I can see my events for today.
Are you or is anyone aware of a size limit of a folder to be
replicated in one chunk to Entourage, because it looks like this might
be the problem here?

I had a problem some time ago where Entourage stopped receiving Exchange
emails.
It turned out to be a single some how corrupted message that stopped all
further messages coming through.
Once I deleted this message (via web access, every started working fine
again!
Hope this helps a little?
