We need a central place to put all of our client information so that our
employees can work from that information (set appointments, attach documents,
tracking, etc...)  We were going toward the direction of contacts in public
folders, but I read somewhere that public folders will no longer be supported
by Microsoft in the future.  And at this point, I don't know enough about
Sharepoint to know if it will support our needs.  We currently have SBS 2003.
Any suggestions?

Public folders will be supported into the future. Don't expect much change.
SharePoint is a stronger solution and will receive the improvements.
Sharepoint and Exchange work togeather.
