Argument is raging here over performing an offline defrag (Exchange 2003
SP2) so I ask the following questions.

- Do MS recommend in best practises to perform offline defrags on Exchange
2003 SP2?

- If they do can you point me to somewhere it says this?

I don't think that offline defrag is meant to be a regular maintenance
procedure.  It's useful for reclaiming some disk space if you know
that your db contains a lot of white space.

If you have the option of creating a new database, consider doing this
instead and moving all users from the database with unnaceptable whitespace
over to it.

You can then dismount and delete rather than performing the offline defrag.

It's an easier way of doing things as after an offline defrag it's best
practice to do an IsInteg
