I have a request to add a disclaimer to the end of each outbound email
message sent from the Exchange 2003 server.  This is an article from
Microsoft that gives an example.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;317680

Is this the best method to accomplisht the task and leave resources for
Exchange server performance.  Is there another method/ tool that is more
efficient and completes the task 'better' ?

I appreciate your taking the time answer.

Thanks

Hello,

this is the "normal" way of accomplishing the disclaimer-task... however you
must be aware of the article mentioned in the references section: Mails sent
via Outlook are not modified if you add the event sink to the default smtp
virtual server. Instead, you must route your mails from the main virtual
server via the smarthost setting to a secondary smtp server (can also be the
same exchange server) which in turn delivers the mails to their
destinations. You must then install your sink on the secondary SMTP virtual
server.

Two other products to look into: DisclaimIt and Exclaimer. Both are
fairly inexpensive and allow a good deal of customization, plus they're
supported.

There's another one http://www.opusflowdisclaimer.com/ but it works on the
outlook client directly, not on the exchange server. It can use Active
Directory fields or GAL (exchange 5.5) to put into the disclaimers.
