Folks,

For some reason I have run into a weird problem on a folder within our
Public Folders.  This folder is no longer in use and must be deleted,
however, when I right click it in Outlook the option to delete is greyed out.

The properties page is also screwed up because I cannot add users or
permissions to it.

I believe the root of my problem is because the one and only defined user
for this particular left the company and his AD account was deleted.  All I
see as a permitted user/author is the SID string of numbers.

Is there a way to delete this folder manually?  I've looked in Exchange
System Manager and there is no option to delete.

Anyone?

Use PFDAVADMIN to reset the permisssions on the folder, then you should be
able to delete it...

Does this work on Exch 2003?  I tried it and it shows me:

"Could not expand http://server/ExAdmin/Admin/DOMAIN/public folders: The
remote server returned an error: 403 Forbidden"

I  am logging in a root, this shouldnt be a permissions problem, no?

Does 'root' have full exchange permissions?

Yes, as far as I know.  Root can view every mailbox and has all Exchang admin
privileges.

Hmmm...sounds like your permissions are borked.  IN exchange systme manager,
if you right click on the Public Folders folder, and do properties, and then
hit the security tab, is the account shown there?  Does it have full perms,
with no denies?

There are a few Denys, but its not listed what is denied in Public Folders.
If I go up the chain, the only perms that look to be denied are Send As &
Receive As, however I cannot find where to change this.  Even so, would these
perms make a difference to what I'm trying to do?

Huh?  I don't see send as and Receive as as listed perms on my public folder
store.

Exchange system manager  | First Administrative Group | Folders | Public
folders

Right click on that, and do properties...then the security tab from there...

Yes, there is no Send As or Receive As there, however I do have Special
Permissions with a Deny.  The only problem is I can't tell what is denied
within the Special Permissions.   When I dig deeper using Advanced, there is
deny on Special, but when I got to find what is denied within Special, they
are all unchecked.

I look up at parent objects to try and determine what was denied and could
only find the Send As/Receive As as denied on parent objects.

Sorry for the confusion.

I wouldn't worry about the deny on special.
Hmmm....

At this point, I am not sure where to go.  You could unhide the M drive, and
see if you can access the PF's that way, and if so delete that folder.

Thanks Tom,

I found the problem after delving more into the System Manager.  Apparently
I have been having a problem viewing anyhting related to Public Folder in
ESM.  I found it was related to my SSL cert that I use for OWA.

This article allowed me to get back ability to view my Public Folder
listings in ESM from which I was then able to adjust permissions and delete
the public folder from Outlook.

Thanks again for your help!
