Hi,
I'm running Exchange2000 and just overnight the Outlook (2003) clients
will not retrieve the email that is on the Exchange server. Here's what I'm
seeing:

   1. ) I cannot receive any emails anymore. The inboxes  aren't accepting
any new emails.

2.) The emails that are a one day new cannot be retrieved by the Outlook
client even though when I hit send/receive there is no error.

I've checked the firewall, IP addresses, the store is running, all the
services for Exchange are running etc...

Any Ideas\/

Hi,

Any errors logged in the application log on the exchange server?
The mailbox store is mounted?

Hi Leif,

Actually I did see error messages in the application log. Here's one of
them and it usually is the same:

"Logon failure on database, "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store
{Exchage2000}" - Windows 2000 account NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM;mailbox
/o=Adelxt/ou=First Administrative
Group/cn=Receipients/cn=SystemMailbox{2E749699-D79D-4B70-*FF6-2F191143EEDD}
error - 2147221231"

The name of my server is "Exchange2000"

I did delete a user account Adelxt the evening before and asked for a
cleanup last night. Could deleteing this account be the problem?

I Looked on the web and I think I can assign the "self" (?) accoutn or maybe
another account as the "External Associated Account" (?)

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Steve

Hi,

Did that user account have special permissions in exchange?

You are sure that you deleted the user account? You didn't just disable the
account?

The error you are receiving just informs you that the system can't login to
the mailbox, but since the user account has been deleted the mailbox should
just be disconnected and therefore there shouldn't be any logons to the
mailbox.

Did you check that the stores were mounted?

Hi Leif,

Yes the stores are mounted. I even dismounted and then mounted them.
There wasn't any special permission to that account. The account is gone.

I just found out that my domain name had expired so that may have some
reason why I wasn't receiving any new mail. I just renewed it and I'm a
little unsure why it lapsed but I'll check on that later.

Now what I did was set up another mail server (Worldmail, real easy to
setup) and I was able to immediately receive email after I renewed my
domain.

Now even though the domain had expired, I can't get my Outlook clients
to retrieve their email internally.

I have sent email externally via a hotmail account and it hasn't reached
my server as of yet.

Any thoughts

Hi,

Difficult to say whats happening.

Try to test your mailserver here:

Hi Leif,

Well I found out the problem and what a weird situation it was.

The reason that I couldn't access the Exchange server and receive new
mail is because the mail box had considered all the email in there as
already accessed. I should have changed a few of the emails to "new" and I
would have relaized that the connection to the Exchange server was okay.

So that leaves the other question, why wasn't I getting any new email.
Simple, after renewing my domain the information had been changed to the
authority default servers not mine. So.... the mail didn't know where to go
until I updated my info in the authority.

Bottom line, renewal of my domain name caused the entire issue.

Thanks
Steve
