We have 6 Exchange servers on our network and need to retire and remove one
of them. I understand there is many steps in place to do this.
Does anyone know of a good document on how to remove an Exchange server?
I have found ones that describe editing the registry but I would prefer not
to do this.
Thanks

Hi,

If it is the first exchange 2000 server in the organization you must fllow
this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307917

If not the first server, move all mailboxes, make sure that replicas of all
public folders exists on other servers, stop all exchange services and have
these stopped for a week. If no problems uninstall exchange.
