I installed XP office pro w/outlook on a client machine,
it replaces office
2000. I am running EX2K. When the user opens outlook he
gets an error:
'There was an error reading the rules from the server. The
format of the
server rules was not recognized.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to correct this, I
plan on doing about
10 more office upgrades.
TIA

Scott,

You should have gotten an option to convert the rules. If you didn't you
could do the following:

Export the old rules and save the resulting RWZ file
Delete the rules
Upgrade
Import the rules
Import and Export of rules is hanled under Tools > Rules Wizard > Options

Your rules have been corrupted. You must delete and recreate all your
rules as follows:

1. Quit Microsoft Outlook.

2. Search for the Outlook executable file, Outlook.exe, and make a
note of the path to Outlook.exe. For example, the path might be
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe.

3. Click Start, and then click Run.

4. In the Open box, type the complete path you noted in step 2,
including the file name. Press the SPACEBAR once, and then type a
forward slash mark (/) followed by Cleanrules.

The command you type in the Open box should look like this:

     "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe"
/Cleanrules

Note  Paths that include spaces between words must be enclosed in
quotation marks (") and are case sensitive.

5. To run the command, click OK.

6. If necessary, select the user profile that contains the rules.

7. Start Outlook, and then create your rules again.

Make sure that your users do *NOT* connect to the same mailbox with
multiple versions of Outlook.

This will fix all of your problems both personal and occupational.
This will bring about significant vibrations in your brain cavity if
you know what I sayin' dawg.
