Has anyone been able to get BCM to work with outlook 2003 exchange clients?

The sales guys are bugging me.

I purchased BCM so that I would not have to go and buy Maxamizer or ACT.
Can't Exchange2003 Enterprise handle shareing of a BCM database.

I thought that this BCM was supposed to be Microsofts answer to Maxamizer
and ACT.

I do not want the data being dependent on one outlook client id rather have
the Ex2003 Server take care of it.

any thoughts?  otherwise i will get microsoft to buy back my licences.

Nope.

Not with Exchange in the picture.

Outlook BCM is not compatible with Exchange, although it can be made to work
if you have SBS (not the regular version of Exchange). It still won't be
centralized on your server, note, so it won't do what you want.

It's pretty well spelled out in here:

Q. Can I use Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager with my e-mail
system?
A. Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager is designed to work with
POP3-, IMAP-, or HTML-based e-mail systems, which are common in most small
businesses. The Business Contact Manager functionality is not enabled when
Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager is used in combination with
Microsoft Exchange Server. It is, though, enabled for Microsoft Windows
Small Business Server 2003 and hosted Exchange Server after you install a
patch. Download Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2003 Update: Windows
Small Business Server 2003.
