Outlook 2002 - searching for exchange server

We just recently did a migration from one server with Exchange 5.5 to
another one with Exchange 2000.  Our e-mail client, Outlook 2002, recognized
the change, and moved to the new server like it should have.  But every now
and then, Outlook is still looking for the old server.

I tried removing the Exchange account from Outlook, and pointing it to the
new server, but it still wants to look for the old server.  After it has
about 10 retry's of finding the server, it finally lets me into Outlook, and
it works fine after that.  It's just really annoying having to wait for two
minutes for Outlook to start up.

The wierd thing is, it doesn't happen to every computer we have...just a
select few.

Anyone have any suggestions on what we can do?

Did you rehome all your PFs/system folders?
Try recreating the Outlook profile - don't modify the existing one.

Tried re-creating my profile...didn't help.  But it now says that my mail is
stored in my mailbox now, instead of "Private Folders."  So, at least that's
fixed :)  (Even though that wasn't a major problem.)

But it still keeps looking to the old server.  I don't understand why
certain computers would do this, and others wouldn't (since they are all
running Outlook 2002 with nearly the same configuration.)

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

How did you do your migration? You didn't answer the PF question I'd
asked...

And yes, much better for everyone to store all data in the Exchange mailbox,
not personal folders.

Yes, our administrator rehomed our directories.  I can access all of my
mail, receive, send, all of the normal functions, but it still looks for the
old server when it starts up.  Once Outlook realizes it doesn't exist, it
goes to the right one.

OK - how did they remove the old server?

Well, once everyone was migrated over, he removed the box completely out of
the network.  I don't know exactly what he did, but he is very knowlegable,
and I think he's done this type of migration in the past.
